KARTS

The Raceway has over 20 years of hands on Indoor Karting experience.

Over the last two years we have made the decision to utilise this wealth of expertise. Being circuit operators we knew what was required, and so with 18 months of actual “track time development” we believe we have made the ultimate indoor kart.

We are proud to launch at our new Docklands circuit our own “Cobra” Kart

The specification of the Cobra exceeds anything currently on the market.

The Chassis (32ml chrome-moly) is a high strength braced frame, all designed and constructed “in-house” to take the knocks that are inevitable for an indoor kart, but to retain it’s flexibility which is essential for a “feel-good” driving experience.

The Kart is powered by a centrally mounted 270cc Honda Engine modified by us to produce 10hp and married to a Kevlar belt drive and wet clutch system to make the Cobra the fastest indoor kart available.

Four bearings give longer life span to rear axle and resist axle-bending.

Fuelled as standard by L.P.G, which is cleaner and 66% cheaper than petrol.

Two L.P.G. tanks built onto the chassis and covered by our own designed side pods ensure over 4 hours of continuous driving. Gauges show how much gas is left in your tanks so your staff won’t be left embarrassed with karts running out of fuel. Fully stainless steel braided gas lines for protection.

Moveable Padded Tillet seats are fully rubber mounted which not only ensures comfort but also combines with 5 different seating positions to ensure the Cobra Kart caters for the widest size range of clients without the need for pedal extensions and slot in seats.

Our exhausts are designed to be housed low and within the frame to avoid any possibility of your clients making contact with it.

The steering column, seat frames, exhausts, pedals, stub axles and side pods are all manufactured by us to meet the requirements of our exacting circuit.

All our karts come with full wrap round protection as standard

TRACK BARRIER SYSTEM

Safety is always the primary judgement criteria that a circuit should be judged by.

As we all know word of mouth is the best means to encourage new business at your venue so minimising accidents is the no.1 priority because nothing ruins an event like an accident.

When The Raceway first started, all that was available as a barrier system was tyres but we all know that whilst they were quite effective as a barrier they forced the karts back onto the track causing further accidents.

Indoor karting has moved on a lot in the last 20 years and Europe showed us the way forward with the development of a new type of barrier system.

The Raceway has been utilising this system for over 7 years and, forgive the pun, the only barrier to entry to this system is the cost.

Our new Docklands circuit needs over 2,000 barriers and with the average market price being around £30 per unit the cost to us would have been over £60,000… a considerable expense for any operator.

We have designed and built a Raceway version which is longer than currently available and will save you the operator 20% on existing costs.

TRACK TIMING AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS.

In the 1980’s our first circuit we needed to employ someone to count the laps as there were no timing or management systems available.

For the last 15 years we have been working with SuperSport Timing to build up the packages we now offer.

SuperSport, has, we believe, developed a system that any Kart track would benefit from using. We never forget that the primary purpose of any system is to ensure that our clients (the drivers and event spectators) need to be aware of exactly how the event is progressing and who is doing well at any given time.

Most Timing systems available today attempt to cram the race standings onto a single computer monitor which can be tough for seasoned track operators to read, let alone first-time kart-track visitors. Our system utilises 4 monitors to present this information. This allows not only MORE information to be displayed (keeping regular drivers happy), but also for it to be colourful, animated and MUCH easier to understand.

When tied in to the “back-room” packages of essential Kart-Maintence recording and control, Front of House Diary Booking, Membership administration for tracks that run a lot of “Arrive & Drive”. email marketing, and so much more you can understand why The Raceway decided to invest in the company.

When it comes to Karts and barriers, we KNEW we could do better. With circuit timing and management systems, we conceded defeat and just purchased part of the company!
